Special Populations
The legislation listed below moved to the governor for consideration.
AB 2560 by Assembly member Mark Ridley-Thomas (D-Los Angeles) would require DHS to create a Public School Health Center Support Program to work with the Department of Education to oversee school health centers (Bill text, 9/5).
SB 1248 by Sen. Elaine Alquist (D-San Jose) would expand to all nursing home residents certain rights currently guaranteed only to Medicare or Medi-Cal beneficiaries (Bill text, 8/24).
SB 1405 by Sen. Nell Soto (D-Ontario) would require DHS to establish the Task Force of Reimbursement for Language Services to examine the provision of language assistance services for limited-English speakers enrolled in Medi-Cal (Bill text, 8/24).
SB 1569 by Sen. Sheila Kuehl (D-Los Angeles) would extend eligibility for Medi-Cal and other social services to undocumented immigrants who have been victims of serious crimes and can prove their eligibility for such programs. To be eligible, the applicants must be taking steps to meet eligibility criteria for federal benefits (Bill text, 9/1).
