STATE SUPREME COURT: George And Chin Win Easy Victories
California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald George and Justice Ming Chin, both of whom had been targeted by pro-life groups for their decision to overturn the state's parental notification law for abortion, coasted to victory yesterday. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that "Californians ... voted overwhelmingly to retain" the justices. While "[a]bortion foes had announced months ago that they would try to remove George and Chin ... [t]he campaigns against the two otherwise conservative justices failed to materialize." George was reelected by a 75% to 25% vote, while Chin was reelected with a 69% to 31% vote (Hoover, 11/4). Click here to read more about his race.
