Stimulus Funds Will Advance Health Care Innovation, Obama Says
In a speech at Hudson Valley Community College in upstate New York on Monday, President Obama called for "a new generation of innovation" and discussed a strategy to capitalize on more than $100 billion in economic stimulus funding to enhance the field of health care, the Washington Post reports.
He made a pledge to strengthen the country's commitment to research and development and reverse a decline in federal investment for such efforts.
He set a goal of putting funds equal to 3% of the country's gross domestic product into research and development (Shear/Branigin, Washington Post, 9/22).
