Study Notes County Health Coverage Disparity
Up to 41% of residents in some Los Angeles County communities are uninsured, compared to the county average of 24%, according to a University of California-Los Angeles report released last week, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The study found that during 2003:
- 41% of residents younger than 65 were uninsured in City Council District 1, which includes the MacArthur Park area;
- 39% of residents were uninsured in District 9, which includes downtown Los Angeles;
- 38% of residents in Lennox and Florence-Graham said they were uninsured; and
- 6% of residents were uninsured in Rolling Hill Estates, Palos Verdes Estates and La Canada Flintridge.
