SURGICAL STRIKES?: Doctors Warm Up to Unions
Frustrated by dealings with HMOs and insurance companies, some salaried doctors have turned to unions in order to find a stronger voice. Now the American Medical Association wants to go one step further, asking Congress to lift the antitrust restrictions on collective bargaining by self-employed physicians. In this week's Stryker's Corner, California Healthline's Jeff Stryker looks at the reactions to federal legislation proposed along these lines by U.S. Rep. Tom Campbell (R-CA).
