The California Endowment Grants $990,000 to KCET ‘Life & Times’ to Expand Health Programming
The California Endowment has provided a $990,000 grant to KCET's public television program "Life & Times" to "increase coverage of health issues affecting California's diverse communities." In more than a decade on the air, "Life & Times" has covered a "wide variety" of health issues, including disparities in access, care for underserved communities, new medical advances and health care policy issues. With the grant, the program will expand its health care coverage by creating eight new health reports and two "health-related three-part mini-series" that will be reformatted into two "stand-alone" half-hour programs. The funds also will allow the program to continue its Spanish simulcast and expand the show's Web site, www.kcet.org/life_times/, to include a listing of health reports and health-related links. "Life & Times" airs weeknights at 7 p.m. and midnight on KCET public television in Southern and Central California (The California Endowment release, 1/4).
