The Week Ahead
The Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee will consider amendments to a bill (AB 84) by Assembly member Alan Nakanishi (R-Lodi) that would exempt contributions to health savings accounts from state income taxes.
The Senate Appropriations Committee will debate legislation postponed from its April 30 hearing, including SB 260 by Sen. Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento). The measure would permit Medi-Cal to reimburse providers separately in some cases for services delivered on the same day. The committee's agenda also includes postponed debate of a bill (SB 580) by Sen. Patricia Wiggins (D-Santa Rosa) that seeks to permit state officials to contract with other states' pension funds to provide benefits to California employees who live outside the state.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will begin considering the county budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year. The proposal includes $17 million to fund future retiree health care benefits.
