The Week Ahead
The Legislature is due to reconvene after being in recess for most of July.
A long list of bills awaits the Senate Appropriations Committee when it holds a hearing on Monday. Health care measures on the agenda include:
- AB 2220, by Assembly member Dave Jones (D-Sacramento), which would require hospitals and hospital-based physician groups to share the cost when using arbitration to resolve outstanding contract issues; and
- AB 2716, by Assembly member Fiona Ma (D-San Francisco), which would require California employers to provide paid sick days.
The Assembly Health Committee is scheduled to consider three bills, including SB 434 by Sen. Gloria Romero (D-Los Angeles). The legislation would require the Department of Health Care Services to use payroll data to help set Medi-Cal reimbursement rates for long-term care.
The Senate Health Committee is slated to discuss AB 317 by Assembly member Patty Berg (D-Eureka). The bill would permit adult day health care centers to reduce their hours of operation if Medi-Cal reimbursement rates are cut.
Three other measures are on the committee's agenda.
