The Week Ahead
The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development's Health Policy and Data Advisory Commission is scheduled to meet.
At its regular meeting, the Assembly Health Committee is scheduled to discuss:
- SB 1168, which would require health plans to maintain coverage for dependents over age 18 if they take a medical leave of absence from school; and
- SB 1184, which would require laboratories and health providers to report test results that can indicate HIV or AIDS infections to local health authorities.
The Senate Health Committee's agenda includes:
- AB 671, which would expand Medi-Cal eligibility to frequent users of health care; and
- AB 2549, which would prohibit health plans from rescinding patients' health coverage after six months.
The California Medical Coalition also will meet in Santa Ana to discuss pending Medicare legislation.
