The CalPERS board is expected to ratify a plan to address increasing health insurance costs. Proposals being considered by the board include raising copayments and eliminating some doctors from health plan networks.
The Senate Banking, Finance and Insurance Committee will hear several health-related bills, including AB 977, which would create a public comment period during the approval process for new health insurance products and AB 1971 on a standard benefit plan to be offered by the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board.
The Senate Health Committee will hear AB 774 involving hospital self-pay policies, AB 2583 on prescription drug dispensing, AB 2950 addressing Medi-Cal billing reductions and other legislation.
