The Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee will consider legislation (AB 84) by Assembly member Alan Nakanishi (R-Lodi) that would exempt contributions to health savings accounts from state income taxes.
The Senate Appropriations Committee's agenda includes debate of SB 260 by Sen. Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento). The measure would permit Medi-Cal to reimburse providers separately in some cases for services delivered on the same day. The committee's agenda also includes consideration of a bill (SB 580) by Sen. Patricia Wiggins (D-Santa Rosa) that seeks to permit state officials to contract with other states' pension funds to provide benefits to California employees who live outside the state.
Zach Hall's resignation as president of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the state's stem cell agency, takes effect.
The Assembly Health Committee will consider several pieces of legislation, including AB 799 by Assembly member Cameron Smyth (R-Valencia) to exempt wellness programs offered by small businesses from certain state requirements for employer-sponsored health plans.
