The Week Ahead

The Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee is scheduled to consider:
- AB 71, by Assembly member Mervyn Dymally (D-Compton), which would offer a tax credit to encourage small businesses to offer health insurance to employees; and
- AB 85, by Assembly member Alan Nakanashi (R-Lodi), which would provide an income tax credit for contributions to health savings accounts.
The Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to debate amendments by Senate President Pro Tempore Don Perata (D-Oakland) to his health care overhaul measure (SB 48). The committee also is scheduled to consider legislation (SB 771) by Sen. Sheila Kuehl (D-Los Angeles) dealing with the price limits for treatments developed using grants from the state stem cell agency.
The agenda for the Assembly Health and Human Services Committee includes consideration of Gov. Schwarzenegger's revised state budget proposal for fiscal year 2007-2008.
