The Week Ahead
Monday
The Senate Appropriations Committee is set to discuss health-related bills including:
- SB 1168, which would bar health plans from dropping dependents' coverage if they take a medical leave of absence from college; and
- SB 1300, to prohibit insurers from restricting access to quality or cost information.
Tuesday
At its weekly meeting, the Assembly Health Committee is scheduled to discuss bills including AB 1944, which would authorize a health care district to directly employ physicians and surgeons.
Wednesday
The Senate Health Committee is slated to discuss measures including:
- SB 1141, to modify state rules on hospitals' uses of helicopters for emergency medical services; and
- SB 1221, which would expand community service and financial requirements for hospitals to apply to local governments or joint powers authorities that help fund hospital operations.
Friday
The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development's California Health Policy and Data Advisory Commission will meet to discuss reports on congestive heart failure, percutaneous coronary intervention and other issues.
