Monday
The Legislature reconvenes after its spring recess.
Tuesday
The Assembly Health Committee is scheduled to discuss a host of legislation when it meets on Tuesday. Bills on the agenda include:
- AB 2580, dealing with school immunization requirements; and
- AB 2966, which would direct the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development to establish new seismic safety inspection standards for hospitals under construction.
A Senate Public Safety Committee is scheduled to include discussion of SB 1169, which would continue to permit local law enforcement officials to contract with health care providers to treat inmates.
Wednesday
The Senate Health Committee convenes to discuss more than a dozen bills. The agenda includes:
- SB 1216, which would require long-term care insurers to send notice of claims denials for all policies; and
- SB 1096, permitting pharmacies to mail some materials to patients without their express consent.
The Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee will meet to discuss bills including SB 1151, a measure that would require hospitals to use lift teams and other devices to move patients in hopes of reducing back injuries to nurses.
Friday
The California Democratic Party kicks off its convention in San Jose.
