Tuesday
Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles) will host a screening of "Sicko," a documentary by Michael Moore looking at the health care industry. Núñez will hold the screening in Sacramento.
The Assembly Health Committee will consider:
- AB 1750 that would extend by three years the repeal date for a Medi-Cal benefit for skilled nursing services; and
- SB 764 by Sen. Carole Migden (D-San Francisco) to require the Medical Board of California to make a five-year projection of the total number of practicing primary care physicians and surgeons in California.
The San Mateo County Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Care Coverage Expansion will vote on a proposal that would provide health insurance coverage to 2,100 adult residents.
Wednesday
The Senate Health Committee will consider:
- AB 329 by Assembly member Alan Nakanishi (R-Lodi) to require the Medical Board of California to launch a pilot program to spur the use of health information technology, especially in treating patients with chronic illnesses; and
- AB 632 by Assembly member Mary Salas (D-Chula Vista) that would extend whistleblower protections to physicians or surgeons on staff at hospitals.
