Three Appointed to State Health Commissions
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Thursday announced several appointments to state boards and commissions, including some that are health related.
- Harold Lancer of Beverly Hills was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Health Professions Education Foundation. Lancer, a dermatologist who is affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the University of California-Los Angeles Medical Center, also is an assistant clinical professor for the UCLA School of Medicine. The position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Lancer declined to identify his party affiliation.
- Nancy McFadden (D) of Sacramento was appointed to the California Medical Assistance Commission. McFadden served as chair of the commission from 2003 to 2005, and previously has served as senior adviser and deputy chief of staff in the Office of the Governor and deputy chief of staff to the vice president of the United States. The position does not require Senate confirmation and compensation is $50,000 annually.
- Christopher Van Gorder of San Diego was appointed to the Commission on Emergency Medical Services. Van Gorder has served as president and CEO of Scripps Health since 2000 and is a member of the California Hospital Association Board of Directors' Executive Committee. The position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation (Office of the Governor release, 3/9).
