UC Nurses Ratify Contract Provisions
Nurses who work at the University of California will receive wage increases of 5% to 9% under new contract provisions, the Sacramento Bee reports. Officials on Friday announced that nurses had ratified the provisions in a second phase of negotiations for a two-year contract.
The new provisions also call for nurses to be paid when they are forced to miss breaks. The agreement does not make changes to health insurance coverage or retiree health care benefits.
About 9,000 nurses statewide are bound by the contract. It runs through June 30, 2007 (Chan, Sacramento Bee, 10/21).
