UC Schools To Receive $200M for Telemedicine, Other Building Projects
On Tuesday, state officials finalized a $199.9 million bond deal with the University of California system to expand telemedicine services and finance building projects at eight campuses, KGTV News reports.
The bond proceeds primarily will go to telehealth projects that allow UC medical experts to provide virtual consultations (KGTV News, 8/4).
UC-Davis will receive $35 million for a new telemedicine facility, in addition to equipment and research funds (Shaw, Sacramento Business Journal, 8/4).
UC-Santa Cruz is set to gain $64 million for a biomedical facility that will house research focused on infectious and neurodegenerative diseases.
Bond proceeds also will go to UC campuses at:
- Irvine;
- Los Angeles;
- Riverside;
- San Diego;
- San Francisco; and
- Santa Barbara (Brown, Santa Cruz Sentinel, 8/5).
