UC System Settles 12 Suits Over Stolen Eggs, Embryos
The University of California Board of Regents in recent weeks has settled for a total of $4.23 million 12 more lawsuits alleging that fertility experts at UC-Irvine's fertility center stole eggs or embryos. The payments ranged between $45,000 and $675,000. The Board of Regents has paid more than $24 million to settle 137 separate suits in which the fertility center could not account for eggs or embryos or gave them to other women without consent of the donor.
