University of California Receives Grant for School of Global Health
On Tuesday, the University of California announced that it has won a nearly $4 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to help fund planning for a proposed School of Global Health, the San Francisco Business Times reports.
The school would be UC's first multicampus, systemwide school, according to the university.
University officials said the two-year grant will fund final planning efforts for the school.
University officials said that the UC Board of Regents could consider the proposal in 2010. If the school is approved, enrollment could begin in the summer of 2011, according to university officials (Rauber, San Francisco Business Times, 12/2).
