UNLICENSED CLINICS: Wife Of Clinic Owner Fined
The wife of a doctor charged with operating an unlicensed medical clinic where a toddler died earlier this year "has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and has been fined $1,000 dollars," the Los Angeles Times reports. The child, Christopher Martinez, "died after being treated for flu-like symptoms by Gamaliel Moreno, who the youngster's parents believed was a physician." Moreno fled the country, "leaving his wife to face the charges." In addition to the fine, Eulalia Parra Moreno will be required to perform 100 hours of community service. She was originally charged with a felony, but the charge was reduced after she agreed to cooperate with authorities in the search for her husband (Haldane, 10/30).
