U.S. Releases Funds for Healthy Families for Documented Immigrants
On Dec. 30, federal officials approved $12.5 million to provide Healthy Families coverage to about 16,500 documented immigrant children, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Healthy Families is California's Children's Health Insurance Program.
Previously, California covered the cost of Healthy Families coverage for documented immigrant children, but the CHIP reauthorization bill that President Obama signed in February made federal funds available to cover documented immigrant children (Calvan, Sacramento Bee, 12/31/09).
