VA Studies Options for Livermore Nursing Home
Secretary of Veterans Affairs James Nicholson on Thursday called for a more in-depth analysis of future plans for the 120-bed VA nursing home in Livermore, the Contra Costa Times reports. Three main options for the nursing home include:
- Building a new facility on the current site;
- Renovating the existing nursing home; and
- Building a new nursing home with a community-based outpatient clinic in the Central Valley.
Nicholson is expected to decide the future of the facility by the end of the year.
Public hearings will be scheduled within 30 to 45 days (Louie, Contra Costa Times, 7/14). This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations. Sign up for an email subscription.
