Vote To Divide County Health Department Delayed
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday delayed voting on whether to divide the county Department of Health Services into two entities, the Los Angeles Times reports. Supervisors are considering separating public health services from the county hospital system.
Supervisors commissioned a report by county DHS Chief Administrative Officer David Janssen outlining how public health could be given more autonomy in areas such as human resources and contracting while remaining a part of the county DHS. The report is due by May 23 (Los Angeles Times, 3/1).
