Calls for Health Care Reform Could Resurface in State of the State
In his State of the State address today, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) could once again call on lawmakers to take action on health care reform, Capital Public Radio's "KXJZ News" reports.
Schwarzenegger aide Daniel Zingale said that the governor will continue to push disease prevention and efforts aimed at controlling health care costs, adding that continued work could lead to comprehensive health care reform in the state.
However, Health Access California chief Anthony Wright voiced concerns about bills that the governor vetoed last year and raised questions about Schwarzenegger's "all or nothing approach" to overhauling the health care system (Weiss, "KXJZ News," Capital Public Radio, 1/14).
The governor is scheduled to deliver his speech at 10 a.m. It will be broadcast on his Web site. This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations. Sign up for an email subscription.
