Effort To Develop Med School at UC-Riverside Wins $1 Million Donation
On Thursday, UC-Riverside officials announced a $1 million donation from Riverside Medical Clinic for the planned UC-Riverside Medical School, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reports.
UCR spokesperson Kathy Barton said the donation is part of the $30 million the university has raised for planning and operating the school. Over the next 10 years, the university aims to raise $250 million, she said.
Barton said Riverside Medical Clinic's contribution is the ninth donation of $1 million or more toward the medical school effort.
The UC Board of Regents approved plans for the school three months ago. It is slated to open in 2012 (Nealon, Riverside Press-Enterprise, 10/9).
