Family Health Care Costs Have Doubled Since 2004, Milliman Analysis Finds
Although the total health care costs for a four-member family with coverage through a typical employer-sponsored health plan, including premiums covered by the employers, has more than doubled over the past decade, cost growth in the last year was the slowest in 14 years, according to an analysis by Milliman. According to actuarial projections in the 2014 Milliman Medical Index, a typical family of four in the U.S. will spend an average of $9,695 on health care services this year, up from $4,443 in 2004.
