First 5 Awards Grant To Develop Immunization Registry
The First 5 California Commission has awarded a $3.6 million grant to the California Distance Learning Health Network to help improve preventive care for children and access to children's immunization records statewide, SDSUniverse reports.
Using grant funds, nine regional immunization registries and other databases will be integrated to create the Statewide Immunization Information System. The project is scheduled for completion in 2008.
The public health schools at San Diego State University, the University of California-Berkeley, UC-Los Angeles and Loma Linda University founded the California Distance Learning Health Network (SDSUniverse, 2/27).
