HEALDSBURG GENERAL HOSPITAL: Accredited by State, JCAHO
After conducting a three-day review of Sonoma County's Healdsburg General Hospital in July, a joint six-member team from the Department of Health and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) announced last week that the facility has met the groups' standards. The accreditation represents the hospital's first "since its purchase by a local group of doctors last November." The doctors, under the name Nuestro Hospital Inc., bought Healdsburg General after former owner Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. threatened to shut it down due to unprofitability. Dr. K. Daniel Rose, a local physician involved in the transaction, said the accreditation was welcome news after "a turbulent year." He said, "The great results we got from this inspection just confirm that we made the right decision last year when we worked so hard to save this hospital" (Santa Rosa Press Democrat, 9/10).
