Health Plans
SB 1553 by Sen. Alan Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) was amended to require health plans specializing in mental health care or other specialty plans that cover mental health services to establish Web sites detailing covered benefits and to update the sites at least monthly. The bill also would require the plans to explain their criteria for accepting or denying services (Bill text, 5/23). The Senate is considering the legislation (Bill status, 5/23).
