Medicare Allocates More Than $3 Million To Help California Beneficiaries
CMS will provide more than $3 million to a State Health Insurance Assistance Program in California to help Medicare beneficiaries in the state make informed decisions about health care coverage, the Sacramento Business Journal reports.
In total, the federal agency will award $35.8 million to 54 SHIPs (Robertson, Sacramento Business Journal, 4/6).
The grants will be paid out to the programs from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2010. An additional $1.5 million in performance-based funding will be awarded to SHIPs in September.
CMS announced the funding on Friday (CQ HealthBeat, 4/3). This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations. Sign up for an email subscription.
