PacifiCare Health Systems To Offer Five Fee-for-Service Plans for Seniors Under Medicare
PacifiCare on Sept. 1 will begin to offer five new private fee-for-service plans to seniors in 16 states under Medicare, the Newport News Daily Press reports. The plans will require members to make copayments of between $5 and $12 for visits to primary care physicians and between $20 and $25 for visits to specialists.
In addition, the plans will require members to make copays of between $75 and $175 daily for hospital visits. After seven days, the plans will cover all subsequent hospital costs.
Members also will have a maximum of $2,000 to $5,000 in out-of-pocket costs under the plans. Two of the plans require members to pay monthly premiums of between $25 and $45, and three do not have monthly premiums (Buchanan, Newport News Daily Press, 7/21).
