Senator Seeking Answers on Mammogram Program Cuts

Sen. Jenny Oropeza (D-Long Beach) has sent a letter asking California Health and Human Services Secretary Kim BelshÃ© to provide information about the number of mammograms provided after the state scaled back its Every Woman Counts breast cancer screening program for low-income women. CHHS has said it aims to reduce mammogram recipients to 259,000 this fiscal year, down from 311,000 last year.
