Sutter Health Aims To Streamline Care Through New Provider Network
On Thursday Sutter Health announced that it has formed an umbrella network of its 3,000 physicians across Northern California in an effort to streamline care coordination and ease the referral process, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Sutter Health President and CEO Patrick Fry called the new organization a "virtual physician group." He said the network is designed to prevent glitches when patients are transferred from one Sutter group to another.
All but one Sutter provider group has signed onto the network, according to Fry. He said the lone holdout, a San Francisco physician group, is in discussions with Sutter.
Jeffrey Burnich -- senior vice president of a health network in Columbus, Ohio -- will lead the network (Kasler, Sacramento Bee, 2/22).
