The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services will hold a public hearing to discuss its MetroCare plan to transfer administration of Martin Luther King Jr./Drew University Hospital to University of California-Los Angeles-Harbor Medical Center.

Tuesday
Election Day. In addition to elected office positions, the California statewide ballot includes:

Proposition 85, which would require doctors to notify a parent or guardian of unmarried minors before providing them with an abortion;

Proposition 86, which would increase the state tobacco tax to fund hospital emergency department services, children's health insurance coverage and other health programs; and
- Proposition 89, which would create a publicly funded campaign system and cap some donations to political campaigns.
A federal judge in Santa Ana will hear a motion to dismiss more than two dozen lawsuits alleging that hospitals and nursing corporations improperly billed Medicare for treatment of conditions resulting from medical errors or neglect.
